America Reads is a semester-long volunteer program in Community Outreach that aims to enrich literacy and overall academic achievement for students K-12 in CT. We offer in-person and virtual tutoring opportunities that involve story times, classroom help, book recordings and fun, engaging activities that encourage excitement for literacy!

Sites include: Kinsella Elementary, Kinsella High, Willington Elementary, and Chase Elementary.

English Language Learners (ELL) Family Literacy Program is designed to assist non-native English speaking adults improve their writing, reading, and verbal skills. UConn students work alongside community partners to provide individualized engagement and promote collaborative learning environments.

Site locations include: E.O. Smith High School, Mansfield Public Library, Rockville Family Learning Center, and Rockville High School.

Cross Cultural Connections (CCC) is a program designed to bring UConn's international student population together with students who are more familiar with campus life. Through immersive experiences including those related to culture, language, and lifestyle in Storrs, students create bonds that are mutually fulfilling, open their minds to new perspectives, and experience different ways of life from all over the world. Partners meet weekly and with the program multiple times throughout the semester to improve English conversation skills, get to know each other, and learn more about various cultures.
