Language & Literacy
Understanding and utilizing written and verbal communication is crucial to navigating our society’s academic, economic, and social structures. Community Outreach’s literacy programs work with children, adolescents, and college students to improve their literacy levels and mastery of the English language. Youth Development & Education – Adolescents
Community Outreach’s adolescent programs collaborate with organizations that engage youth in fun, learning centered initiatives that seek to further develop their self-awareness, academic aptitudes, and long-term career plans. Collegiate Health Service Corps (CHSC)
CHSC works with Eastern AHEC (Area Health Education Center). CHSC volunteers provide multiple diverse local sites with health services education. We provide culturally compentent health education to local, medically under-served populations. Sites that CHSC work with include: The Covenant Soup Kitchen, John Ashton Towers Elderly Housing Complex, Lighthouse, Cameo Club and Migrant Worker Farm Sites.

Standardized Participant Program
Volunteer responsibilities would include, training time and acting as either a patient, family member or healthcare professional during simulation labs for Junior and Senior Nursing students. No medical knowledge is necessary as we will train you to each specific scenario. Help us make a difference in health care! Please no nursing students.

Second Chance Educational Alliance
UConn students will be working with the educational unit, at Cybulski Correctional Facility is a 2 year reintegration center ,within the facility to educate admitted students on science, business, math, writing and reading comprehension to help them prepare for the GED test as well as other academic goals students may have. Students will facilitate the classroom lessons and create activities for tutoring and instructing a course.
