Community Service Days Spring – April

Community Service Days are one time volunteer placements that occur primarily during the weekends at organizations surrounding the UConn campus. Many student organizations on campus have an expectation that members participate in volunteer community service projects. We encourage you to sign up early for these limited opportunities as they generally fill to capacity early in the semester.

APRIL 1ST

GROW Windham

Saturday, April 1st | 9:35am – 1:25pm* (3 service hours) | 13 participants

Volunteers will be helping to maintain and build two community garden sites within Lauter Park. Participants will help build garden beds, spread wood chips, compost and do some planting. Participants should come dressed in weather appropriate clothing they do not mind getting dirty. Sign up now!

Mansfield Parks and Recreation

Saturday, April 1st | 9:35am – 12:25pm* (2 service hours) | 5 participants
Volunteers will be supporting Natural Area Volunteers (NAV). NAV is a volunteer corps sponsored by Mansfield Parks and Recreation. Workday Volunteers help with supervised projects such as trail blazing, brush removal, and other natural area improvements. Sign up now!

UConn Spring Valley Student Farm

Saturday, April 1st | 12:50pm – 3:10pm* (2 service hours) | 13 participants
Students will be working outdoors helping to clean-up garden spaces in preparation for spring planting of vegetables, flowers, and herbs. All tools and instructions are provided. No experience necessary. Sign up now!

Windham County 4-H Foundation - Spring Clean Up

Saturday, April 1st | 8:55am – 3:35pm* (5.5 service hours) | 10 participants
Students will be working outdoors helping to clean-up brush and move it into trucks for disposal. Students will also help rake up winter debris out from around the cabins and other public areas around camp. Sign up now!

Windham Area Interfaith Ministry (WAIM) - Donation Loading Dock

Saturday, April 1st | 8:35am – 12:25pm* (3 service hours) | 5 participants
Participants will help on the loading dock by unloading furniture and taking donations. Sign up now!

Holy Family Home and Shelter

Participants will help shovel snow as needed to make sure walkways are cleared and the fire hydrant is exposed. Participants can also expect to help with washing windows and sorting donations inside Holy Family Home and Shelter as well. Sign up now!

Lutz Children's Museum

Saturday, April 15th | 8:25am – 3:35pm* (6 service hours) | 24 participants
Volunteers will help get the Nature Center up and running for the season. They can expect to be doing indoor and outdoor work.
