Community Service Days Fall – October

Community Service Days are one time volunteer placements that occur primarily during the weekends at organizations surrounding the UConn campus. Many student organizations on campus have an expectation that members participate in volunteer community service projects. We encourage you to sign up early for these limited opportunities as they generally fill to capacity early in the semester.

Town of Mansfield - Natural Area Clean-up

GROW Windham - Community Gardens

Students will be helping to maintain the community gardens in Lauter Park. These gardens produce food that is donated to the Covenant Soup Kitchen as well as food that is sold at the Willimantic Farmers' Market by GROW Windham's high school youth program. These gardens help to increase food security and access to fresh healthy foods in the Windham community. All materials needed to complete the project will be provided at the site. Students should come dressed in weather appropriate clothing with closed toed shoes, more specifically sneakers or boots that they understand may get dirty. Students should also bring a water bottle with them if possible. Sign up now!

Holiday Light Fantasia is the largest fundraiser of the year for Channel 3 Kids Camp in Andover, CT. From Thanksgiving through New Years Day, we host a drive-through holiday light display. Set up begins early October and runs until we open on Thanksgiving. Prep/set up includes building/setting up displays, changing light bulbs and sockets, minor repairs on displays. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and boots, and should dress for the weather, as all work will be outdoors. Tools will be provided at the site, but gloves are recommended. Sign up now!

Special Olympics Connecticut - Haunted Torch Walk
